TRASEVO / WAREHOUSING
Preparing a warehouse for WMS
A useful WMS reflects the physical warehouse. Define locations and operating rules before designing screens.
TRASEVO / INSIGHTS · 2026Define locations and units
Agree zones, aisles and storage locations, plus product units such as items, cartons and pallets. Consistent identifiers and labels prevent errors a scanner cannot fix.
Map the movement of goods
Separate receiving, checking, put-away, reservations, picking and dispatch. Include returns, damage and quantity discrepancies, and define when stock becomes available.
Check equipment and ERP
Record scanner models, operating systems, network coverage and code formats. Agree the source of product records and stock ownership. Confirm actual interfaces.
Pilot one area
Test a limited group of products to validate labels, locations and exceptions. Compare physical and system stock. Establish counting and network-outage procedures before expansion.
